Emi Martinez has confirmed his plans to represent Argentina in the upcoming international break, despite being ruled out for Chelsea for several weeks through injury.

Emi Martinez has confirmed his intention to join up with Argentina for the upcoming international break despite still recovering from an injury. The Chelsea goalkeeper suffered a concussion and a fractured jaw during a 2-0 win over Everton in October. Speaking to journalist Gaston Edul, the 34-year-old revealed he plans to travel for Argentina's friendlies against Uruguay and Costa Rica in November, hoping to feature in goal.
The Pride of London argues Chelsea will be frustrated by the decision, noting Martinez has not yet resumed full training and cannot currently eat solid food. Manager Xabi Alonso has relied on young goalkeeper Mike Penders during Martinez's absence, leaving Chelsea cautious about risking the player's recovery ahead of their upcoming match against Sunderland.
