The 31-year-old Rasmussen went 16-5 with a 2.67 ERA in 30 starts during the regular season.

The Tampa Bay Rays have exercised their $20 million club option on ace right-hander Drew Rasmussen for the 2027 season rather than paying a $500,000 buyout. The option escalated from $8 million to $20 million after Rasmussen completed 30 regular season starts in 2026, bringing the total value of the agreement to $28 million over three seasons.
Rasmussen went 16-5 with a 2.67 ERA in the regular season, helping Tampa Bay capture the AL East title and the American League pennant before falling to the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series. In corresponding roster decisions, the Rays declined mutual contract options on pitcher Nick Martinez and outfielder Cedric Mullins.
