McTominay has returned to the Scotland squad after undergoing minor heart surgery that kept him out of the last international break…

Scotland manager Sebastien Pocognoli has challenged his squad to create a system that allows Scott McTominay to shine rather than relying on him to carry the team alone. The Belgian coach recalled the fit-again Napoli midfielder for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against North Macedonia and Switzerland. Pocognoli emphasized the need to reduce the collective expectation placed on key players like McTominay, Andy Robertson, and John McGinn.
McTominay missed the previous international camp following a heart procedure but has now returned to full fitness in Serie A. Pocognoli stated that integrating the former Manchester United midfielder into the leadership group will provide a significant boost ahead of the Euro 2028 qualifying campaign, which is scheduled to begin in March.
