The Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) has issued a statement calling for the upcoming weekend matchday to be called off following the death of CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel. The union submitted formal requests to the RFEF, LaLiga, and UEFA urging the immediate suspension of all scheduled matches on Spanish soil between November 3 and November 9.
Jesús de Miguel died at age 30 after suffering a cardiac arrest from an on-field collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a Spanish second-division fixture. Following the tragedy, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) initially extended the suspension of its competitions, while matches such as FC Andorra versus RCD Mallorca have already been postponed.
