Sydie Peck's hat-trick at Preston was Sheffield United’s first in seven years and was about more than just the goals, with Chris Wilder explaining why he sees the England U21 international as an all-round midfielder rather than a conventional six…
Sydie Peck scored a first-half hat-trick to lead Sheffield United to victory over Preston North End at Deepdale. The England Under-21 international recorded the Blades' first hat-trick since 2019 and became the first player for the club to score three goals before halftime since James Beattie in April 2008.
Manager Chris Wilder praised Peck's finishing ability, stating he views him as an all-round midfielder rather than a conventional number six or eight. Wilder explained that deploying defensive cover like Jairo Riedewald or Kalvin Phillips has given Peck the freedom to push higher up the pitch.
