The Carolina Panthers made a massive change since their last game after parting ways with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. New interim defensive coordinator Todd Wash explained what to expect from the unit under his watch from Week 9 on.

The Carolina Panthers fired defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero following their Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers, naming Todd Wash as interim defensive coordinator. Speaking ahead of Week 9, Wash outlined plans to implement a more aggressive, fast, and physical culture. Head coach Dave Canales cited defensive communication issues and struggles against the run as major factors behind the staff change.
Wash plans to shift away from a read-and-react approach in favor of an attacking front on the defensive line. However, the Panthers face significant personnel challenges in the secondary, with cornerbacks Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, and Akayleb Evans on injured reserve, alongside rookie Will Lee III dealing with a hamstring injury.
