The Story in 60 Seconds

Will Iger, the son of prospective Los Angeles Lakers owner Bob Iger, has been hired as the play-by-play announcer for the Coachella Valley Lakers. The announcement was made on Thursday ahead of the NBA G League affiliate's inaugural season opener on November 6. He will work alongside team analyst and three-time NBA champion A.C. Green.

The hiring comes as former Disney CEO Bob Iger and billionaire Josh Kushner near the completion of a record-setting $12.5 billion purchase of the Lakers from Mark Walter. Will Iger previously called games for the Austin Spurs and San Antonio FC, and the organization has not indicated any link between his hiring and the pending franchise sale.
