Cleveland Cavaliers guard Sam Merrill emphasized the need for consistent habits and stronger game starts following a 124-116 road defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The loss dropped the Cavaliers to a 4-4 record, having lost three of their past four games. Cleveland fell behind 37-20 after the first quarter and trailed by as many as 25 points before mounting an unsuccessful comeback.
Merrill recorded 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while teammate James Harden contributed 19 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Both players noted that despite showing competitive fight when trailing, the team must address ongoing inconsistencies across 48 minutes.
