Community Shootaround: Domantas Sabonis’ Future

Domantas Sabonis' future with the Sacramento Kings remains uncertain amid reports that the center wants to move on. ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that Sabonis wants out and the Kings are open to trading him, following his offseason agency switch to CAA Sports' Aaron Mintz and Steven Heumann. General manager Scott Perry is reportedly seeking positive value in any potential deal rather than treating his contract as negative value.

Sabonis is earning $45.5 million this season and is owed a guaranteed $48.6 million next season, which has complicated trade discussions. Sacramento held talks with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors over the summer, but no agreement was reached. The 30-year-old big man is expected to feature heavily in trade discussions ahead of the February 11 deadline.
