Jeff Bezos' consortium reportedly has two potential pathways to increase its stake and secure full ownership of Liverpool from Fenway Sports Group. The Amazon founder's K5 Global sports fund is the primary investor in Amit Bhatia's 1892 Holdings, which acquired a 38 percent stake in the Premier League club in August for over £2 billion. According to reports from The Athletic, the group could raise its stake to 69 percent or complete a total 100 percent buyout once ratified by the Independent Football Regulator.
The consortium could achieve full control of the Merseyside club in as little as 12 months. All indications suggest FSG may ultimately complete a full exit from Liverpool, having originally acquired the side for £300 million in 2010. During FSG's tenure, Liverpool secured both the Champions League and two Premier League titles.
