The Cavaliers are, theoretically, a threat to dethrone the Knicks.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Post argues that the main difference separating the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers is postseason reliability. Despite both teams holding matching 4-4 records, the writer labels the Cavaliers as theoretical contenders who have consistently struggled in the playoffs.
Bondy points to playoff shortcomings from key Cleveland players, including James Harden and Donovan Mitchell, the latter of whom has lost three playoff series to Jalen Brunson. He also criticizes the postseason physicality of frontcourt players Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen against New York.
