Having found no shortage of ways to lose in soul-crushing fashion during the late stages of games in recent weeks, the Pittsburgh Penguins utilized an effective tactic to avoid such a fate on Thursday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a 6-2 home defeat to the Boston Bruins at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday, marking their fourth consecutive loss. Boston capitalized on numerous turnovers and odd-man rushes, with Pavel Zacha scoring two goals and Mark Kastelic, Elias Lindholm, Morgan Geekie, and Fraser Minten also finding the net. Pittsburgh's goals came from Justin Brazeau and Nick Robertson.
Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs made 18 saves on 24 shots, while Bruins netminder Michael DiPietro stopped 16 shots in the victory. The loss dropped Pittsburgh into a tie with the Philadelphia Flyers for last place in the Eastern Conference standings as they prepare to open a three-game California road trip against the Los Angeles Kings.
