The Story in 60 Seconds

Texas Rangers utility player Ezequiel Duran has been officially nominated for the utility Silver Slugger Award. Having already won the Rawlings Gold Glove Award on November 1, Duran could make history by becoming the first utility player to win both honors in the same season. The award winners are scheduled to be announced on November 17.

Writer Stephen Parello argues that while finalists Sam Antonacci and Kevin McGonigle boast stronger offensive metrics, Duran embodies true positional versatility after playing six different defensive spots in 2026. Duran hit .260 with 17 home runs and a 109 wRC+ during his breakout campaign.
