Rafa Benitez has sent a clear message to his compatriot Unai Emery over potentially replacing Michael Carrick at Manchester United.
Former Premier League manager Rafa Benitez has advised Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to remain at his current club rather than move to Manchester United. Emery is reportedly viewed by Manchester United as a leading target to replace Michael Carrick, whose position remains under scrutiny following a difficult run of results.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Benitez highlighted the rare level of total backing Emery currently enjoys from Aston Villa's ownership and supporters. He suggested Emery continue building his project in Birmingham before considering alternative roles in the future, even as Emery reportedly nears a contract extension with Villa.
