Aston Villa in talks with Jorge Mendes to sign Barcelona star in January – Spanish media

Aston Villa are reportedly among several Premier League clubs holding discussions with agent Jorge Mendes regarding a January move for Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde. The 23-year-old has played only 124 minutes across all competitions this season and reportedly favors a move to England. Barcelona are prepared to sanction a permanent departure for approximately €40m (£33m), though Mendes reportedly views an initial loan with an option to buy as a more achievable solution.

Villa manager Unai Emery is seeking left-back competition for Ian Maatsen following the earlier departure of Lucas Digne. Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham are also monitoring developments. In addition, Emery is reportedly progressing in talks over a new contract with Villa that would extend his stay beyond 2029.
