Former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers revealed on The Bill Simmons Podcast that coaching Giannis Antetokounmpo was "not easy." Rivers stated that while Antetokounmpo possesses great passing ability, he lacks high basketball IQ and needs to better understand execution rather than consistently forcing plays downhill.
Rivers also claimed Antetokounmpo secretly wanted a trade from Milwaukee but avoided asking directly to protect his reputation. Brew Hoop writer Jack Trehearne noted that while Rivers' critiques of Antetokounmpo's on-court execution carry merit, Rivers showed a lack of accountability for his own coaching failures during his tenure.
