Arsenal have identified a potential transfer target who is taking European football by storm…

Arsenal have reportedly submitted a formal enquiry for Monza striker Gustavo Varela, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola. The 21-year-old forward has drawn interest across Europe after scoring 11 goals in 10 matches this season, including nine Serie A strikes to match Erling Haaland's league tally. Barcelona and Napoli are also monitoring the newly called-up Portugal international.
Monza signed Varela from Benfica for approximately €2 million (£1.7m) in the summer and are now understood to value him at upwards of £33 million to £42 million for a permanent transfer. Mikel Arteta is reportedly exploring additional attacking alternatives, though Monza are reluctant to sanction a January departure while battling relegation.
