Adrian Morejon, on paper, looks like a fit for the Chicago Cubs this season, but their situation paints a different picture.

The Chicago Cubs are not expected to pursue high-leverage relief pitcher Adrian Morejon in free agency this offseason. According to reporting from The Athletic's Sahadev Sharma and Patrick Mooney cited by Cubbies Crib, Chicago's front office under Jed Hoyer historically avoids committing lucrative, multi-year contracts to free-agent relievers due to the extreme volatility associated with the position.
Cubbies Crib writer Jordan Campbell notes that the Cubs already have multiple bullpen arms returning, including Daniel Palencia, Ryan Zeferjahn, and Jacob Webb. With rotation needs taking greater financial priority, the writer suggests the Cubs are unlikely to bid on Morejon unless he transitions back to a starting pitching role.
