The Los Angeles Lakers will likely continue searching the trade market to find a new backup center to replace current player Kevon Looney.

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly expected to explore a trade for a backup center, with three-time champion Kevon Looney potentially on the chopping block. Team reporter Jovan Buha stated that Looney has fallen out of the rotation behind starter Walker Kessler, prompting the front office to seek an upgrade to bolster frontcourt depth.
Looney, who joined Los Angeles on a one-year, $3.9 million deal, has averaged just 1.5 points in five appearances. With options limited across free agency and buyouts, Buha suggested the Lakers may pursue trade candidates such as Jericho Sims or Jalen Smith, while possibly waiving fringe roster players to create space.
