Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona discussed his offseason goals, new pitching coach Joe Torres, and lineup adjustments on the Reds Radio Network. Francona clarified that his message to "be tougher" meant having more competitive plate appearances, cutting down on early strikeouts, and playing toward player strengths.
Francona praised Torres, citing his five years working alongside Cleveland Guardians pitching coach Carl Willis and highlighting Torres's ability to help Cincinnati pitchers throw more strikes. Francona also stated he hopes the Reds can re-sign free-agent closer Emilio Pagán.
