The Hockey Hall of Fame’s 2026 class will get inducted on Saturday.

During an episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, analyst Jeff Marek argued that Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin deserves stronger consideration as an eventual Hockey Hall of Fame inductee. Speaking with host Tyler Yaremchuk, Marek highlighted Slavin as an under-the-radar player whose defensive contributions make a compelling case despite not having high-scoring offensive statistics.
Marek asserted that championship teams rely on defensive defensemen like Slavin, arguing that pure defensemen merit Hall of Fame inclusion alongside traditional pure goal scorers. The discussion took place ahead of the 2026 Hall of Fame induction weekend, which honors Patrice Bergeron, Carey Price, Pekka Rinne, Keith Tkachuk, Brian Burke, and Cindy Curley.
