Golden State Warriors veteran center Kristaps Porzingis announced on Friday that he is stepping away from basketball to prioritize his health. In his statement, Porzingis explained that his body did not respond as anticipated during his ramp-up and that he plans to work with the Warriors to find an agreeable solution for both parties.
Porzingis has missed considerable time over the past two years due to health issues, including a diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). ESPN previously reported that the Warriors have withheld salary payments, and Porzingis reportedly holds strong interest in negotiating a buyout on his $20 million contract.
