Hudson Young on what he thought about Port Moresby – and working with Ricky Stuart again.
Canberra Raiders forward Hudson Young has addressed his future after visiting Port Moresby to inspect a potential deal with the PNG Chiefs. Young explained that the club's tax-free financial package could help pay off his mortgage and support his family, while stressing that he holds no negative feelings toward Canberra and wants to play out his 2027 contract if head coach Ricky Stuart keeps him.
The Chiefs are pursuing Young as their eighth signing with a deal carrying an NRL market value of $1 million annually. Canberra recently withdrew a four-year, $4.4 million contract offer following disagreements over ratchet clauses, while Young continues to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon that prematurely ended his 2026 season.
