Jamey Baskow reports that recent comments and performances suggest the Philadelphia Flyers' locker room is strained and fragile amid a poor start to the 2026-27 season. After an initial 0-5-2 stretch and a 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals, team leaders publicly criticized the roster's effort, marking a sharp contrast to earlier assertions of unity from forward Owen Tippett.
Captain Sean Couturier publicly described the team as "soft" and losing battles easily, while defenseman Nick Seeler criticized a "me, me, me" attitude among players. Head Coach Rick Tocchet endorsed Couturier's critique, and subsequent internal meetings were held to address the team's compete level, slow starts, and consistency.
