Andrew Vaughn has been a revelation for the Brewers since arriving in 2025 via trade, but if Jake Bauers returns on a hefty one-year salary thanks to the qualifying offer, it's going to make it difficult to keep both first…

Brandon Glick of Reviewing the Brew argues that Andrew Vaughn's future with the Milwaukee Brewers depends on whether Jake Bauers accepts the qualifying offer. The Brewers issued Bauers a one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offer following his breakout 2026 campaign. Glick suggests Milwaukee will not afford to keep both first basemen on the roster simultaneously.
Vaughn posted a .306/.390/.444 slash line in 2026 and is projected to earn $8.5 million in his final year of arbitration. If Bauers accepts the offer, Glick contends the Brewers will likely trade Vaughn rather than commit over $31 million to a first-base platoon.
