Decades after Liverpool first showed its support for Nelson Mandela, a group of Toxteth students have now written their own piece of the story…

A group of teenagers from Toxteth have created a film in South Africa, reconnecting Liverpool with Nelson Mandela's legacy. Organised by production company Culture City and local charity Mandela8, the project trained youth from the Young Media Programme in filmmaking before sending them to South Africa to produce their own documentary, titled "Mandela8 - Journey to South Africa."
During the trip, the students met Mandela's daughter, Dr. Maki Mandela, and granddaughter, Tukwini Mandela, sharing meals and conversations at their home. The documentary is scheduled to be screened at the Museum of Liverpool Theatre on Wednesday, December 2.
