Stuttgart made a flying start against Werder Bremen but had to withstand considerable pressure in the second half to secure a 1-0 home victory. Maximilian Mittelstädt's early strike ultimately separated the two sides.

VfB Stuttgart secured a 1-0 home victory over Werder Bremen in Saturday's Bundesliga fixture to climb to eighth place in the table. Maximilian Mittelstädt scored the decisive goal in the seventh minute, converting a low cross from Grischa Prömel after an aggressive opening from the hosts.
Werder Bremen increased their pressure in the second half, with goalkeeper Karl Hein tipping a second Mittelstädt effort onto the post to keep the deficit at one. Despite controlling possession, Bremen failed to equalize against a resilient Stuttgart defense managed by Sebastian Hoeneß.
