Just a few months ago, the New Jersey Devils made the surprising move to make Alexander Command the 12th-overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. Then, in an even more surprising move, they traded him to the Winnipeg Jets.

Alexander Command has spoken publicly for the first time since the New Jersey Devils traded him to the Winnipeg Jets as part of a package for goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Speaking to Swedish outlet Hockey Sverige, the 2026 12th-overall draft pick expressed excitement about joining Winnipeg, noting he has already had positive discussions with the organization.
Writer Nick Villano argues that parting with the young prospect was a necessary and worthwhile price for New Jersey to acquire an elite goaltender. Command, who is currently playing in Sweden with Örebro's U20 team and remains unsigned, admitted to struggling with his form earlier this fall.
