Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes the club can save over £100m in the transfer market by promoting 19-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni into the starting holding midfield role. Speaking to Eldorado, Heskey argued that developing Nyoni avoids the need for Liverpool to match nine-figure midfield signings made by Premier League rivals like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Heskey stated that deploying Nyoni as a deep-lying distributor would also unleash Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch in their preferred, advanced midfield positions. Additionally, Heskey praised 18-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha ahead of Liverpool's match against Crystal Palace, comparing his dribbling skills to former England international Joe Cole.
