Lakers’ Luka Doncic sitting out against Pistons with back ailment

The Los Angeles Lakers ruled superstar guard Luka Dončić out of Sunday's road game against the Detroit Pistons due to low back tightness. Dončić had entered the day listed as questionable before the team officially sidelined him five hours prior to tipoff. The absence marks his second missed game across the Lakers' first 11 contests this season.

Dončić entered the weekend as the NBA's leading scorer, averaging 40.1 points along with 7.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. The Lakers conclude their back-to-back set on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks, with Dončić's availability expected to be decided Monday afternoon.
