The Los Angeles Lakers made Bronny James the point guard in his G League debut, and the victory didn’t tell the full story.

Lake Show Life writer Tyler Watts argues that the Los Angeles Lakers' point guard experiment with Bronny James is faltering. Despite posting 22 points and seven assists in the Coachella Valley Lakers' 104-98 G League opening win over Salt Lake City, Watts contends James played too much like an isolation superstar rather than adapting to an NBA role-player mold.
Watts notes that Coachella Valley registered a poor 98.1 offensive rating with James commanding a 31.4 usage percentage. He argues that head coach JJ Redick needs James to focus on defense and halfcourt playmaking alongside stars Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, rather than hunting mid-range shots, to justify exercising his $2.4 million team option.
