UFC bantamweight Dan Ige released a formal post-fight statement following his unanimous decision defeat to David Martinez at Noche UFC in Glendale, Arizona. The 35-year-old veteran suffered his third consecutive loss, moving to a 4-9 record over his past 13 Octagon appearances.
The contest at Desert Diamond Arena saw Martinez manage distance and striking volume effectively across three rounds. Martinez entered the cage with a 4-0 UFC record and a No. 7 ranking at 125 pounds. Moving down to the bantamweight division presented tactical challenges for Ige, who struggled to implement his cage control and counter-punching against Martinez’s pace. The judges scored the fight 30-27, 20-27, and 29-28 in favor of Martinez, condemning Ige to another setback in his divisional transition.
Addressing supporters on social media, Ige accepted the decision without making excuses. “I’m blessed in more ways than I can put into words,” he stated. He emphasized the intense work behind his performance, writing: “My family loves me deeply, and they are proud of the effort, sacrifice, and work that went into this moment. People see 15 minutes under the lights. They don’t see every early morning, every hard round, every meal, every recovery session, every prayer, or every stone I turned to prepare.”
Defeat leaves Ige at a crossroads in his career.
Despite his recent record, Ige expressed conviction regarding his physical preparation and mindset. “In my heart and soul, I know I did what I needed to do,” he wrote. Looking ahead to the next stage of his career, he added: “I may not know exactly what comes next, but my faith will not be shaken and I’ll continue to be a vessel for the Almighty above.” Having suffered only one finish loss since February 2026, Ige retains strong defensive durability. Refining his weight cut and strategic adjustments remain key if he is to secure future success at bantamweight.
