Former PFL title challenger Alfie Davis believes the UFC chose not to re-sign Michael ‘Venom’ Page due to his walkout song and criticisms of the promotion. Page was not offered a new contract after his previous deal expired, despite winning five of his six UFC fights. While UFC CEO Dana White stated it was a matchmaker decision, Davis suggests the promotion had already decided to part ways with Page.
According to Davis, Page's walkout to Michael Jackson's song 'They Don't Care About Us' before his fight with Sam Patterson was a protest against fighter pay. Davis believes the walkout was a response to Conor Benn reportedly signing a lucrative deal with Zuffa Boxing. Page had also expressed feeling creatively stifled by the UFC regarding his walkout entrances.
