Nottingham Forest stadium expansion approved – so what now?

Nottingham Forest has secured planning approval for an ambitious expansion of the City Ground, aiming to increase the stadium capacity to over 52,000. This approval follows earlier plans for a 35,000 capacity that were superseded as the Premier League club expanded its ambitions following a European campaign. The expansion would allow up to 21,300 additional spectators, representing a 68 percent increase on matchdays.

Local authorities and residents are considering the infrastructure impact, particularly regarding traffic and parking in nearby areas like Lady Bay. Ward councillor Richard Mallender and other officials support measures like a controlled parking zone, which could restrict matchday parking within a 25-minute walk of the ground to protect residents from severe congestion.
