Shaun Wright-Phillips’ private life: Mum, adopted by dad Ian and professional footballer son

Former Manchester City and Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is set to compete in the BBC series Strictly Come Dancing as one of 15 celebrity contestants. The former England international, who earned 36 caps before retiring in 2019, joins other athletes such as Dame Sarah Storey and Tabby Stoecker on the dance show.

Wright-Phillips was raised by his mother Sharon in south-east London and was later adopted at age three by former Arsenal striker Ian Wright. His upbringing and support from family helped guide his career following an early release from Nottingham Forest, eventually leading to first-team football under manager Kevin Keegan at Manchester City.
