Tottenham Hotspur signed midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon in 2019 for a then club-record fee that could reach £65 million. Manager Mauricio Pochettino brought in the French international after the club missed out on signing Frenkie de Jong. Despite his recognized natural talent, Ndombele struggled to adapt to the physical demands of English football during his initial pre-season.
