Former bantamweight title challenger Marlon "Chito" Vera faced Canada's Charles Jourdain at UFC 331 in Los Angeles. Vera entered the bout looking to snap a four-fight losing streak dating back to 2023, having switched training camps ahead of the matchup. Jourdain entered the contest undefeated as a bantamweight.
Jourdain started the fight actively by utilizing leg kicks and landing hooks and uppercuts to the body during an early clinch. Vera responded by landing an uppercut of his own and catching a kick to dump Jourdain to the canvas as the opening round progressed.
