Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has revealed that he actively tried to recruit LeBron James to join him in the Bay Area before James ultimately signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in July. Curry acknowledged his efforts during a CNBC appearance, stating that anyone who did not try to recruit James would be a fool. Despite the recruitment efforts, James chose to join the 76ers.
Curry and teammate Draymond Green both made pitches to James, who was looking for immediate win-now roster construction from his suitors. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also joked about the pursuit during the offseason. Despite missing out on the superstar, Curry expressed support for James's free-agency decision, calling it a good moment for player empowerment in the NBA.
