Timo Werner gives interesting assessment of his Tottenham career, just as Spurs repeat the trick

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Timo Werner has reflected on his 18-month loan spell with the Premier League club. The German international joined Spurs on loan in January 2023 and departed at the end of the 2024-25 season. Despite scoring only one goal and providing three assists in 27 appearances during his only full season under manager Ange Postecoglou, Werner stated he still views his time in North London positively.

Werner, who now plays for MLS side San Jose Earthquakes, explained that Tottenham decided against activating their permanent purchase option because they wanted to rejuvenate the squad and spend more money in a different direction. Former Chelsea player Pat Nevin suggested that Tottenham may have repeated a similar transfer mistake during the summer window.
