Former Knicks Guard Lands Major NBA Promotion After Turning Down New York

Former New York Knicks guard Pablo Prigioni has been promoted to lead assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves under head coach Chris Finch. Prigioni replaces Micah Nori, who left the Timberwolves during the offseason to become the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. Prigioni will now serve as Finch's top assistant while continuing to oversee Minnesota's offense and player development.

The promotion comes after Prigioni turned down an opportunity to join Mike Brown's coaching staff with the Knicks last summer, citing family reasons. Prigioni played for the Knicks from 2012 to 2015, entering the league as the oldest rookie in NBA history at age 35, before transitioning to coaching with the Brooklyn Nets in 2018 and joining Minnesota in 2019.
