Jose Mourinho’s Real fell to a 1-2 loss against its city rival, a result which leaves the Los Blancos six points adrift of leader Barcelona.
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho criticized the refereeing committee after his side's 1-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium. Mourinho brought printed images to his post-match press conference to argue that Atletico players Cristian Romero and Lee Kang-in should have been sent off for first-half fouls on Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde.
The defeat leaves Real Madrid in third place, six points behind leaders Barcelona. Real Madrid was reduced to 10 men in the second half when Dean Huijsen was sent off, leading to a penalty converted by Alejandro Grimaldo before Jonathan David scored Atletico's second goal.
