The Story in 60 Seconds

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Paul van Hecke expressed disbelief over the club's poor start to the season following a 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa. Roberto De Zerbi's side currently sits bottom of the Premier League table with only two points from five matches. Despite heavy summer investments exceeding €350 million, Tottenham failed to score in their first four league games before Van Hecke and Conor Gallagher netted against Villa.

Van Hecke, who joined Tottenham from Brighton & Hove Albion for around €60m, labeled the team's defensive collapse and loss of energy as unacceptable. The 26-year-old Dutch center-back has played every Premier League minute this season and will now turn his focus to international duty after being called up by new Netherlands manager Xavi Hernández.
