Eoin Morgan gives update on his IPL 2027 status

Former England captain Eoin Morgan has confirmed he turned down head coaching offers from Chennai Super Kings and another unnamed IPL franchise for the 2027 season. Morgan, who has no prior head coaching experience, stated he prefers to continue his career in broadcasting and commentary. Following Stephen Fleming's departure after 18 years, CSK has appointed former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan as their new head coach.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed that the decision to appoint Zaheer Khan was led by MS Dhoni, who consulted with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and owner Rupa Gurunath. CSK also considered batting coach Mike Hussey for the role, but he is expected to remain in his current position. Zaheer Khan previously held coaching and mentoring roles with Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
