Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury during training camp. The 41-year-old forward has missed two consecutive days of skating, did not participate in Sunday's preseason opener, and will not play against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday in Hershey.
Head coach Spencer Carbery stated that Washington will monitor Ovechkin over upcoming practice sessions before determining if he can play in preseason games later this week. Ovechkin is entering his 22nd NHL season after leading the Capitals with 32 goals and 64 points last season.
