Kylian Mbappe has confirmed that he came close to joining Liverpool in 2017 while playing for Monaco, but ultimately rejected the transfer. The French forward revealed that the Premier League club, then managed by Jurgen Klopp, held genuine discussions to sign him before he decided on another path.
Mbappe explained that although his mother favored a permanent move to Anfield, he chose Paris Saint-Germain on an initial loan deal. He stated that his priority was to play for his hometown club and establish himself in French football before moving abroad.
