Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald revealed that Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton previously threatened to accuse Seattle of running a Spygate-style cheating operation. The dispute originated from their 2024 Week 1 matchup, which the Seahawks won 26-20. Macdonald stated the conflict arose after Seattle used approximately 100 plays of Broncos training camp footage obtained from fan-posted social media clips.
According to Macdonald, Payton learned about the scouting middle of the season and believed Seattle had improperly placed an operative inside Denver's facility. Macdonald and general manager John Schneider strongly rejected the accusations and threatened legal action against Payton if he went public with false claims.
