Buddy Hield Traded to Hornets in Deal With Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks traded guard Buddy Hield, Ryan Nembhard, and cash considerations to the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday. In return, Atlanta acquired veteran forward Dorian Finney-Smith. The trade comes as both franchises finalize their rosters just days prior to the start of training camp for the upcoming season.

Hield, a 33-year-old guard who ranks 15th in NBA history with 2,201 career three-pointers, split the 2025-26 season between the Golden State Warriors and Hawks, averaging 7.6 points per game. Charlotte also adds Nembhard, who averaged 5.3 assists with Dallas as a rookie, while Atlanta gains Finney-Smith, who played 37 games for Houston last season.
