The Tampa Bay Rays officially released veteran outfielder Jake Fraley on Tuesday after he rejected an outright minor-league assignment to Triple-A Durham. Fraley, who was designated for assignment on Sunday to activate infielder Ben Williamson from the injured list, cleared waivers and elected free agency immediately.
Fraley signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Tampa Bay last November but missed most of the season following sports hernia surgery in May. The 31-year-old batted .216 with two home runs across 31 games in 2026 and was not expected to make the Rays' postseason roster.
