The New York Mets defeated the Texas Rangers 6-3 on Tuesday night, damaging Texas's playoff positioning and dropping them below .500 on the season. Texas struggled with runners in scoring position, finishing 1-for-8, and failed to record a single hit after the first batter of the fourth inning.
Texas starter MacKenzie Gore pitched five innings of one-run ball before manager Skip Schumaker brought in Nathan Eovaldi in relief. The Mets capitalized on pitching and defensive errors to take a 5-3 lead against Eovaldi, while Mets starter Sean Manaea struck out nine Rangers across six innings.
