One of two planned 18-holers at Wild Spring Dunes has just opened to public play — a Tom Doak design stitched through forests and meadows.

A new 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Doak has opened for public play at Wild Spring Dunes in East Texas. Developed by Michael Keiser Jr., the course is situated roughly two and a half hours from Dallas and Houston near the town of Nacogdoches. The layout features firm, fast ground spanning forests and meadows, beginning with a par-4 first hole that drops from an elevated rise named Mount Baldy.
Architect Tom Doak has compared the venue's terrain to Pinehurst and Pine Valley, noting its significant elevation changes. The development plans to expand further by adding a second 18-hole course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, along with a short course, putting course, and lodging facilities. Seasonal green fees range from $195 to $295, with replay rates set between $100 and $140.
